Antique Edwardian 1900s Black Wool Skirt Crochet Hem
Pretty black wool antique winter skirt. A few shallow pleats at waist in top section that reaches below the hips, followed by wider section to hem with more pleats for greater volume.
Nearer the hem, 3 rows of tufted wool woven into fabric, accented with brown threads. Hem is crocheted in heavy wool, with some stretch.
Era: 1900s, 1910s
Skirt Length: Ankle length
Closure: None (needs hooks & eyes at waist)
Measurements, laid flat (in inches):
Across waist: 13.5
Total length: 37
Marked Size: None
Condition: In good wearable, but not perfect, condition. Needs hooks & eyes at waist. A 1” area near the tufts looks like it was repaired with the same tufted technique. Also, a few of the brown threads turn up in the overall fabric of the skirt, so I’m not sure if it was mended with brown thread? Between 1-2 dozen small (.25” at most) holes, not especially noticeable unless you look for them.
