Polish Blue Velveteen Stylized Women’s Folk Jacket
Polish Stylized Folk Jacket
This is a woman’s stylized Polish folk jacket, not completely authentic but combining folk elements in an exceptionally pretty, pleasing way.
The background fabric is blue velveteen, adorned with braiding, metallic trim, sequins, beads, and buttons.
Long sleeves are also elaborately decorated, with white eyelet lace at wrists.
Closes with hooks and eyes: buttons are faux.
Lined in white cotton canvas. The decorations are hand sewn onto vest, with stitching visible on lining.
Very professional construction.
From the collection of Polish folk dance teacher and scholar Ada Dziewanowska.
Lining: Cotton canvas
Neckline: No collar
Sleeve Style: Long sleeves with lace edging
Closure: Hooks & eyes
Measurements, laid flat (in inches):
Across shoulders: 15.5
Across underarms: 18.5
Shoulder to waist: @13.5
Across waist: 16
Length of sleeves: 23.5
Total length: 18
Marked Size: None
Condition: In good condition. Appears to have been barely worn. There is a 1” area near the back left shoulder—not a tear, but the pile is low, kind of like a moth nibble but not really. So it may just be a flaw in the fabric.
